 Jewish Holidays

No matter how far you are from home while studying at university, you'll be happy to know that you always have family here at CSN to celebrate the Jewish holidays. All of our holiday celebrations are geared specifically for students - all at no cost, thanks to very generous benefactors.

CSN aims to give students the most engaging, stimulating, and genuine experience possible at each holiday. Our holiday experiences involve full-course meals including all the traditional foods, revisiting age-old traditions, and lots of fun and inspiration. Have a look at the details of each holiday below:

 
High Holidays
High Holidays
 The High Holidays can be tough if you are a student. Prayers in a language you can barely follow and classes being missed. At CSN, our goal is to make students feel right at home. Our services are easy-to-follow with lots of explanation, stories, and insights along the way. Full-course meals accompany each of the services and the fast. Students who missed out on the Shofar blowing because of classes don't have to miss out on the Mitzvah of Shofar - the Rabbi will come and blow it for you right on campus! The traditional Tashlich ceremony is also held on Rosh Hashana, just steps away, on the foot bridge of the canal.
Sukkot
Sukkot
 Sukkot is that wonderful time of year to get in touch with the great outdoors. The CSN sukkah is open for students throughout sukkot with festive meals and celebrating. During the Chol Hamoed days of Sukkot, students at both campuses can hop aboard the Sukkah-on-wheels that stops at both campuses on each of the intermediate days of the holiday, so that students can make the blessings on both the sukkah and the special plant species, Lulav & Etrog.
